I'm celebrating Autumn's arrival with some baking today. I wanted to start with some ambiance, so that means my apple pie candle is lit and I'm being serenaded by Frank Sinatra and my You've Got Mail soundtrack. I've got my Disneyland apron on to add to the festivities. ;)
Yes, I know I'm ridiculous! And, no, I don't care to be anything else at the moment.
I'm making peach apple cobbler, pumpkin snickerdoodles, and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. My tiny kitchen smells divine!
In the midst of my happy little moment, an uninvited voice popped into my head whispering discouraging things about how sad it was that I didn't have a family to bake for. No little people wrapped around my legs begging to clean out the bowl or lick off the spoons. No husband coming in to taste test the results right off the still hot cookie sheet.
Isn't it crazy how fast the enemy can sneak in & try to steal our joy?
"If God thinks I will bring Him more glory married, He WILL provide," I reminded myself. I quickly thought of other families and friends who I could bless with my baked treats. I thanked God for bringing to mind what & who I have in my life to focus on instead of what I long for.
May God bring truth to your mind this week, friends, when you are tempted to doubt His goodness.
Much love,
Jen

Unfulfilled Longings
"Just because you have unfulfilled longings doesn't mean you have to live an unfulfilled life."
