I Will Praise You in the Storm

A friend from high school's mom is battling cancer. Her oldest son wrote the following update. I cried as I read it and marveled at the impact she is having in the midst of her suffering. Her life so radiantly reflects Christ!

Here is the update:

So, after 7 days of tests, scans, and getting the pain under control, my mom is ready to start radiation. We have opted for 10 days of low intensity instead of 5 days of High intensity radiation.
The cancer that we will be targeting is in her spine and has caused significant damage to her bone density. They are using a medication to increase the density of her bones while doing radiation, our prayer is that as the radiation kills the cancer and the medication regenerates her vertebrae.
We thank you all for your prayers and support...

I am simply amazed at the strength and grace my Mom has tackled this situation with. She uses every opportunity with every person she comes in contact with to be a blessing to them. She's laying there in bed with all of this going and she's asking the nurse's, "how is your day going darlin?" "would you like a muffin, or an organic cookie?"
One morning for one of the shift changes there were about 8 nurses and doctors in the room and before they all scattered she gathered them together around the bed and talked to them about what it truly means to honor your husband, and the protection it's provided her over the last 39 years!

another time a nurse came in and his name was A.J. she asked him what it was short for and why his parents had named him Aaron Joshua. he said they got them from the bible...She immidiately says" WHOA those are to very powerful names! your parents named you that because God has something very special in mind for YOU"
you could tell that the weight of what she said hit him right between the eyes, like that's something his mom has been telling him since he was a little boy.
She then grabbed his hand and prayed a blessing over him.
I can't really describe to you how these situations have made me feel other than greatfull to be there and Amazed at the rich wisdom that comes from a woman who has spent her life serving others.

WHO you are is not what you do when things are good. Who you are is exemplified in your actions when your life's trials and tribulation come upon you like a tidal wave you can't outrun...

As my Mom would say "May God bless you, and Keep you, and fill your heart with his love"

Proverbs 31:10-31
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
