Yay! We're back on track! This week's topic is great timing as I'm reading Lord, Calm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow. It's about cultivating contentment and an EXCELLENT book if you haven't already read it! It's challenging me on my attitude and perspective. What a blessing I can be to my future husband if I learn to be content in all circumstances - the joys of life as well as the sorrows. Glad I'm working on this now. I'm sure he will appreciate it!
Okay, here we go:
Lord, fill my future husband with Your love and peace today. May there be a calmness, serenity, and sense of well-being established in him because his life is God-controlled, rather than flesh-controlled. Shine the light of Your Spirit upon him and fill him with Your love. I pray that he will be kind and patient, not selfish or easily provoked. Enable him to bear all things, believe all things, hope all things, and endure all things (1 Corinthians 13:7). Release him from anger, unrest, anxiety, concerns, inner turmoil, strife, and pressure. May he not be broken in spirit because of sorrow, but enjoy the continual feast of a merry heart (Proverbs 15:13-15). Give him a spirit of joy and keep him from growing into a grumpy old man. Help him to be anxious for nothing, but give thanks in all things so he can know the peace that passes all understanding. May he come to the point of saying, "I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content" (Philippians 4:11). I say to my future husband this day, "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace" (Numbers 6:24-26). Amen
* Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds though Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:6-7
*Another eye-opening book I finished recently was Emotional Purity by Heather Arnel Paulsen. If you liked Colleen's article "Just Friends," you will LOVE this book!
